Rise Recovery Announces “Harvey’s Scholars” with $1 Million Gift from Harvey E. Najim
San Antonio, TX (May 21, 2025) – Rise Recovery is proud to announce a transformative $1 million gift from San Antonio philanthropist Harvey E. Najim to launch “Harvey’s Scholars”, a new initiative that will sustain and expand recovery support services for youth at Rise Inspire Academy (RIA) beyond 2026.
This generous donation marks the lead gift in Rise Recovery’s 50th Anniversary Impact Campaign, aimed at raising $3.6 million over the next three years. Harvey’s pledge directly addresses the looming funding gap left by the expiration of ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) support in September 2026.
Najim’s commitment will be distributed as follows:
- $350,000 in July 2026
- $350,000 in July 2027
- $300,000 in July 2028
These funds will ensure continuity of the RIA campus, its recovery staff, and critical student resources, helping young people and their families continue their path to healing and stability through Rise Inspire Academy.
“This is about more than funding a school—it’s about investing in the lives of young people who are working hard to overcome challenges. I hope others in our community will join me in supporting Rise Inspire Academy and ensuring no student in recovery is left behind when public funding ends,” said Harvey Najim, philanthropist, Chairman of the Board, The Najim Charitable Foundation.
“Harvey Najim’s belief in our mission and his investment in our future comes at a pivotal time,” said Evita Morin, CEO of Rise Recovery. “For 50 years, Rise Recovery has walked alongside youth and families impacted by substance use. Harvey’s Scholars will ensure that journey continues for years to come.”
As the inaugural and lead contributor to the campaign, Najim’s commitment sets the tone for others in the community to follow. His leadership gift underscores the urgent need to sustain essential recovery services and inspires confidence in the campaign’s success.
With Najim’s support, Rise Recovery now looks to raise the remaining $2.6 million to meet its campaign goal and secure the long-term success of RIA and its broader mission.
